Welcome to Our Blog

Here at DJ’s Martial Arts & Fitness Center, we study Kajukenbo Wun Hop Kuen Do. Wun Hop Kuen Do is the art of the combined fist fighting style, and was created by Grandmaster Al Dascascos in 1969. The Kajukenbo system was the first original American mixed martial art form developed around 1948. Wun Hop Kuen Do is a style of Kajukenbo and utilizes approximately 70% Kung-Fu, 20% Karate, and 10% Judo & Jujitsu.

Wun Hop Kuen Do Students are taught all the important physical basics of the art; for example, students learn blocks, strikes, kicks, and throws. Here, at DJ’s our training includes all types of street fighting, sport fighting, and multi-man attack. We also study open hand and weaponry forms. However, our emphasis is not just on fighting, but also on the physical, mental and spiritual growth of our students. Wun Hop Kuen Do’s primary goals are self-appreciation, self-respect, confidence, humility, integrity, honesty, and loyalty. Sifu Doug Jones believes these qualities are not only essential to the martial arts but to our lives as well.

Please accept our open invitation to come in and observe or participate in any one of our classes.

  3. I go to Dj’s martial arts & fitness and I have been going there since I was 3 years old and now am 10. Now you have to be about 5 because when your 4 or younger your less focused. I’ve been there for so long and my life would be so different if I never went there. We train real hard but it helps not just our body but our mindsas well. Sifu (Doug Jones) teaches how to defend our selfs on the street. His frase is ( I’d rather hear you got home safe instead of getting your butt whooped and now are in a hospital.) Sifu’s classes are very physical and mental. He makes our musules sore but it makes us tough. I like his classes very much. There hard but in ways he makes them fun. I even teach a class too, at 5:15. I try to take after Sifu but it gets real hard. I am a green belt now and am happy I go to Dj’s Martial Arts & Fitness. Can you keep a secret Sifu is my father.

  4. So good to see this blog!
DJ’s is my second family, and I miss all of my brothers and sisters when I am not there.
Sifu is a wonderful teacher, and a great role model. The school is a particularly excellent addition to the community.
I came to DJ’s Martial Arts and Fitness from nearby Mills college, and I believe my training there has played a big role in my development as a strong woman, and a humble, more determined human being.

  5. What a great site this is. Inspiration is what I get from DJ’s, and now I’m gonna get it on the web. The Muay Thai seminar by Cheetah was great! I love that our style of martial arts explores all styles of martial arts. The combinations of the Muay Thai style kicks and the use of elbows were really interesting. It’s like adding more flavor to the dish. And Sigung’s seminar at the end of the month will be great, too. Between Sifu’s dynamic workouts and training, Sihing’s “Crispy!” techniques, and Sibak’s guidance, gonna get to the next belt yet!!! (Plus Sydney’s help on knife counter’s! She’s thorough on the training like Sifu) And, what can I say about the “family” at the school. It’s great. Quite a crew cleaning on Saturday. Well, off to get set for class.
